Directions
Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the onions, garlic and herbs. Cook until the onions have caramelized and become golden, about 20 minutes. Add the wine and sugar, then reduce until a thick syrup consistency forms, 8 to 12 minutes. You can decant the mixture into a jar and keep for 3 to 4 days or serve at once as an accompaniment to your favorite food.
