3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 large onion, chopped small

2 teaspoons chopped garlic

1 pound Italian sausage, casing removed

1 pound ground beef

2 teaspoons ground cumin

2 teaspoons chili powder

2 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons black pepper

2 (16-ounce) cans kidney beans

2 (16-ounce) cans diced tomatoes

  1. Heat oil in a skillet and saute onions until translucent. Add garlic and saute until it begins to turn golden brown, being careful not to burn it.
