Find Out Who Won Season 18 of 'The Great Food Truck Race'

In the beginning, when the show kicked off in Savannah, Georgia, there were nine teams vying for the crown. Now, on the show’s second-to-last stop in Newport News, Virginia, there are only three remaining: Good Fortune Co., Cooking With Que and Nishaan.

After a long, hard-fought battle in America’s largest shipyard, only two teams can advance to the final. With the highest volume in their till, Good Fortune Co. safely sailed into the finals. But with a razor-thin margin between the remaining two teams, only one could move forward.

For seven weeks across seven cities, Nishaan and Good Fortune Co. have gone head-to-head, dominating this “trucking awesome” food truck competition. While Nishaan claimed three city wins along the way, Good Fortune Co. took four, together combining to pull in nearly $75,000.

The final stop of the season, and the last battleground of the competition, is Norfolk, Virginia, home to the world’s largest Navy base. Here, Nishaan and Good Fortune Co. will square off in front of the famed USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier. By the end, one of these two teams will walk away with not only bragging rights but also $50,000 in cash.

The USS George H.W. Bush is home to thousands of hardworking sailors who have volunteered to defend our country. In the final challenge, Nishaan and Good Fortune Co. must feed as many of them as possible. The teams are partnering with the USO, which has been supporting and strengthening the well-being of the United States military for more than 80 years.

The sailors have been given 20 USO bucks to spend on the trucks, and the challenge is to create meals so irresistible that they spend all 20 on your menu. Each team must also ensure that their menu items add up to no more than 20 bucks. The goal is simple: feed as many sailors as you can, because, at the end of the day, however many USO bucks you collect will be converted directly into US dollars for your till.

Nishaan’s $20 “Taste of the Truck” meal deal includes a Pakistani chopped cheese, Noom Dhoom masala fries, a Dubai chocolate paratha for dessert and mango sweet tea.

Good Fortune Co.’s USO challenge menu features handmade beef slap noodles, deep-fried chicken wings, banana pudding for dessert and ube lemonade.

The US Navy is ready for whatever comes their way 24/7 anywhere in the world. For this Navy Chef Challenge, the teams must be ready to create something new on the fly for the chef crew (featured above) that feeds sailors at sea. Their task is to come up with an old-school “Navy rations” dish, something high in nutritional value that can be made in bulk but still elevated and appealing.

For the Navy Chef challenge, Nishaan dug deep to create a truly unique dish: smoked masala shepherd's pie. Not only is it healthy, but it can also be mass-produced, it’s high in calories and it’s undeniably elevated.

A popular meal for sailors during WWII, thanks to its long shelf life, affordability and versatility, Spam became a staple on ships and in military rations — and now is the star of Good Fortune Co.’s Spam fried rice. For an elevated Hawaiian twist, the team added chopped pineapple and finished it with a fried egg.

In the final challenge of the season, host Tyler Florence reveals that the teams will revisit their very first dish from the opening stop in Savannah. Back then, they were tasked with creating one plate that defined their team, their flavor profile and their identity. Now, for the finale, they’ll remake that original dish for Tyler, who wants to see just how far they’ve come.

When Nishaan first presented Tyler with the chopped cheese in Episode 1, he fell in love with the flavor, but insisted that it needed more sauce, the kind that runs down your hands after just one bite. In the finale, Nishaan made sure the sauce was aplenty and served it with a side of elote chaat.

In the first episode of the season, Tyler was blown away by Good Fortune Co.’s pork dumplings, but said they could use a little more crisp to add to the texture. With Tyler’s feedback etched in their minds, their pork dumplings 2.0 delivered 100%, with a perfectly fried, golden-brown texture thanks to a technique where a cornstarch slurry is added to the pan that crisps up while the dumplings finish frying, creating a crispy layer known as a "lace skirt."

“The sear on the dough itself gives really nice texture to it, and also shows a level of culinary excellence of knowing how to even do that in the first place. I think that’s kind of wild. The end-to-end flavor profile: we've got cilantro, we got green onion, you got sesame seeds, a green onion curl … nice knife cuts, and then your signature chili crisp. I’ll never forget it. It’s so good. It hits all the elements. I think it’s such a great dish.” —Chef Tyler Florence

With bragging rights and, more importantly, $50,000, on the line, tensions ran high as the two teams stepped up to their Navy foot lockers. All of their hard work throughout the season came down to this final moment. The team with the most total sales aboard the USS George H.W. Bush in Norfolk, Virginia, would take the title. In one foot locker sat $50,000 in cash; in the other, only the promise of tomorrow and a well-earned second-place finish. Who would walk away as champion?
