If you’ve scrolled through your Instagram feed recently, you’ve probably seen Estelle Colored Glass tagged in quite a few posts. The Black, female-owned company, which was founded by Stephanie Summerson Hall in 2019, has become a viral sensation thanks largely to its breathtaking pastel- and jewel-colored products. It’s something that Stephanie is super grateful for. “It does not hurt that our pieces photograph well for Instagram,” she says. “Also, they make for such memorable gifts which has made them really popular, and we are so thankful to all our supporters.”

It was Stephanie’s grandmother Estelle who first introduced her to collecting colored glass and who she credits as the inspiration and namesake behind the brand. “I grew up one street away from Grandmother Estelle and went on lots of shopping and antiquing trips with her as a young girl during the summers leading up to college,” she shares. “She had her favorite stores she visited on a regular basis and would buy colored glass among lots of other pretty and unique items. These special pieces would be used at family gatherings and when she hosted dinners.” This strong love of family tradition is also something Stephanie credits for the brand’s ever-expanding popularity. “The pieces evoke a sense of nostalgia in lots of our fans who remember their grandmothers and aunts collecting colored glass as well,” she notes.

Estelle Colored Glass offers their own luxury selection of special pieces including brightly hued decanters, ultra-chic cake stands and elegant stemmed and unstemmed wine, coup champagne and rocks drinking glasses. Available in a variety of eye-catching and bold colors like lavender, amethyst, blush pink, cobalt blue, mint green, amber smoke, fuchsia and teal, each piece of Estelle Colored Glass is handblown in Poland by a century-old glassmaking company. “I started the process with an industrial designer who created our custom pieces and then custom formulated all the colors,” Stephanie says. “Our glassmakers brought my vision of each piece to life.”

This vision included the brand’s beloved lipped cake stands. “The cake stands are my favorite and was inspired by designer evening dresses since I wanted the pieces to be statement pieces,” Stephanie shares, explaining the backstory behind their regal design. “When I first started researching colored glass as a business venture, I started with cake stands because I thought a collection of beautiful colored cake stands are uniquely beautiful. As it turns out, colored stemware is just as beautiful, and are quickly becoming collector pieces.”

These collector pieces can be found in West Elm, Zola Home and Anthropolgie stores nationwide as well as on the Estelle Colored Glass website. If you aren’t sure which piece to start your very own colored glass collection with, Stephanie has a suggestion for you. “I think a stemware set is a good starter piece, especially the mixed set where you get six different colors and can really fall in love with a particular color,” she says.

Whether you choose to do your entertaining indoors or outdoors this upcoming spring, a few pieces of Estelle Colored Glass are a must-have for turning your tabletop into a stunning sight to see. Just be sure follow Stephanie’s lead and include a handful of these other key elements. “For me, it is three things: fresh flowers or fresh elements from nature, pieces that are unique — vintage or new — whether it is the stemware, platter, plates, or flatware; and leaving a lasting impression with a good homemade dessert (or from a favorite bakery),” she says.

No matter what pieces you choose to purchase for your tabletop, Stephanie knows that good times are on the way: “I am concentrating on the now and just so excited about continuing to share my family heritage and share beautiful colored glass so our customers can build happy memories.”
