This candy-centric holiday gives Halloween a run for its money in the sugar department. While candy is never going to be classified as health food, you can make a few upgrades. Here's a list of healthier options to check out before you stuff those Easter baskets.

BUY IT: Amazon, $9.99

Craving some Peeps? If pillowy marshmallows top your list of dreamy Easter treats, you may want to consider a Smashmallow. This flavor pack is perfect for Easter baskets and comes with variety of flavors including Cookie Dough, Cinnamon Churro, Strawberries and Cream and Mint Chocolate Chip. These treats have less calories, cleaner ingredient lists and nearly 50% less sugar than you would find in the same amount of those sugar crusted chicks.

BUY IT: Amazon, $8.23

Bite-sized chocolate treats like kisses and M&Ms (more on that next) remain Easter favorites. Choose a bite made with more cell-protecting antioxidants from dark chocolate and dried fruit.

BUY IT: Amazon, $6.55

Looking for munchable candy coated chocolates in fabulous (Easter-friendly) natural colors? Unreal brand's Gems are non-GMO project verified and dare I say BETTER than M&Ms. If you are a fan of peanut butter eggs, check out their to-die-for PB cups

BUY IT: Amazon, $6.98

It would not be Easter without jelly beans but those faux-colored chewy bites of corn syrup are better suited for a visit from the Tooth Fairy. Surf Sweet Jelly Beans are made with fruit juice concentrates and formulated without corn syrup or artificial colors and flavors.

BUY IT: Amazon, $2.98

Voted the most popular Easter candy year after year and whether you love them or hate them, healthier versions of these gooey filled chocolate eggs are hard to find, unless you make them yourself! There are several DIY recipes online and homemade versions give you the opportunity to control the portion sizes and the quality of the ingredients.
