KitchenAid Just Gave Its Iconic Stand Mixer a Luminous Makeover

We already love the KitchenAid Artisan Plus stand mixer, so it's no surprise that we're head over heels for this year's Design Series model. Earlier today, KitchenAid released the Luminaire Stand Mixer in Blue Peppercorn, a soft shade of blue with a unique crinkled finish. While in years past, they've used the Design Series to mix up colors, finishes and materials, for 2026 the brand is rolling out a whole new feature: an integrated bowl light.

Features of the 2026 KitchenAid Design Series Luminaire Stand Mixer

While a new color launch is exciting enough by itself, the real showstopper of this year's Design Series stand mixer is the integrated bowl light. Now a key feature in KitchenAid's Artisan Plus mixers, we tested out the brand's first-ever built-in LED bowl light earlier this year. Meant to give users enhanced visibility while mixing, our tester found it helpful for monitoring texture and consistency, especially with darker batters. And when paired with the glass bowl, you'll get a truly unobstructed view of batters and doughs.

Beyond giving you a clear look at your next batch, the bowl is also meant to create a memorable mixing experience. The fluted design refracts the illumination from the bowl light, creating mesmerizing reflections throughout your kitchen.

Bowl: Made in Italy from fluted, hardened glass, the 2026 Design Series mixing bowl is as durable as it is beautiful. It's scratch-resistant and safe to go in the freezer, microwave, dishwasher and oven.

Integrated Bowl Light: The LED light gives home cooks a better look at what they're cooking — and refracts off the fluted glass bowl for a vibrant, inspiring effect.

Color: This new colorway, Blue Peppercorn, is inspired by French blue. It's a gentle, versatile shade that's so timeless. Plus, a unique velvet-like crinkle finish adds character and subtle texture.

Hub Cover: The dimensional hub cover has a subtle sparkle motif, designed to catch and reflect the integrated bowl light.

Trim Band & Knobs: The trim band and knobs are also Peppercorn Blue, creating a stylish, monochromatic look.

Attachments: In addition to the bowl, this mixer comes with a double flex edge beater, flat beater, wire whip and dough hook — all dishwasher-safe.

According to KichenAid's website, this new color was "inspired by the final crack of seasoning — the moment everything comes together." Blue Peppercorn is meant to be quiet, yet bold, with a subtly textured finish that interacts with the light. This rich, desaturated shade was chosen because it complements a range of modern spaces and color palettes, especially lighter neutrals.

And for the first time, KitchenAid is extending Luminaire into their major appliances category with a limited release of five commercial-style ranges.
