This weeknight standby gets an upgrade with a nod to Greece. Oregano and cinnamon add Greek flavors to the sloppy joe mixture. The buns are slathered with creamy tzatziki, which is the perfect counterpart to the savory, slightly tangy meat mixture. A crisp, simple romaine salad finishes off this new twist on an old favorite.

Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook, crumbling it with a wooden spoon, until it’s no longer pink, 2 to 3 minutes. Season with 1 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper. Stir in the onion and cook until the meat is browned and the onion is softened, 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in 2 teaspoons oregano and the cinnamon. Add the tomato sauce, 3/4 cup water and 1 tablespoon each lemon juice and honey. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat and cook until thickened, 8 to 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, brush the cut sides of the rolls with olive oil and place cut-side up on a baking sheet. Bake until toasted, 4 to 5 minutes. Whisk the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon honey and 1/2 teaspoon oregano in a large bowl; season with 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper. Add the romaine and toss.
Spread each roll with 2 tablespoons tzatziki. Fill with the beef mixture. Serve with the salad and more tzatziki.
