Cook’s Note: To freeze vodka in an ice block for a beautiful presentation, place a 750-milliliter bottle of vodka in a plastic tub, carton or ice bucket with tall, straight sides, so that the bottle fits comfortably. Place the bottle inside the container, then fill the container with cold water so that it goes at least halfway up the sides of the bottle. Freeze until solid, at least overnight. Before serving, run the outside of the container under hot water, then carefully remove it. The ice block should stay attached to the vodka bottle. Place in a shallow bowl for serving so that as it melts, it will catch any residual moisture.
