Bloody Mary is all about the garnishes these days, with more and more extreme examples appearing on social media almost daily. Ree is using thick bacon to replace celery sticks as well as colossal shrimp and lime wheels. As this is a Tex-Mex Bloody Mary, she’s substituted tequila for the vodka. It’s the perfect drink for a brunch party.

Directions
For the Tex-Mex bloody Mary: Mix together the tomato juice, jalapeño juice, lime juice, adobo, soy sauce, cumin, horseradish, Worcestershire, pepper and salt in a large pitcher until well combined. Taste and adjust the seasonings. Add the tequila and stir to combine. Set aside.
For the garnish: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook until crisp, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate. Add the jalapeños and cook, turning as they blacken, for about 10 minutes. Add the shrimp and cook in the bacon fat alongside the jalapeños until the shrimp are cooked through and the jalapeños have blackened sufficiently, 5 to 6 minutes more. Remove the shrimp and the blackened jalapeños.
To serve, run a lime wheel around the edge of a 12-ounce Collins glass. Dip the rim into the chile lime seasoning, coating half of it, then place the lime wheel on the edge of the glass. Fill the glass with ice. Add 6 ounces of the Tex-Mex Bloody Mary and garnish with a slice of bacon, a cooked shrimp, and a blackened jalapeño. Repeat to make more drinks.
