This trip Guy visits local joints doing favorites from someplace else. In Kenwood, Calif., a family restaurant cooking up homemade, Tuscan-style Italian. In Charlotte, N.C., a neighborhood favorite serving California fish tacos. And in Honolulu, the local bar turned Irish pub where the stout's poured right and the Shepherd's Pie is scratch-made.
The cooks and cons are all vying to reel in the win while making fish tacos with pastries in the first round. Then, judges Daphne Oz and Gail Simmons have the wurst time sussing out the pros and amateurs in round two, but ultimately link up to decide who made the best dish incorporating sausage.
The Chopped judges take on some of the notorious mystery baskets. Alex Guarnaschelli attempts the impossible with a French puff pastry presentation, Maneet Chauhan and Chris Santos have a battle of fish and chips, and a wine-sipping Ted Allen provides plenty of dramatic narration while the judges prepare dishes from cake pops and quail.
