Sonoko Sakai is a cooking teacher and food writer based in Los Angeles, California. She is the author of Japanese Home Cooking: Simple Meals, Authentic Flavors and her cooking reflects her rich cultural upbringing. She was born in New York and moved to many cities throughout her youth, including San Francisco, Kamakura, Mexico City and Tokyo. Sakai has been featured in publications such as New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Saveur, and many more for her dedicated work as a Cook, Storyteller and Food Activist. Her name "Sonoko" means garden in Japanese — and for her, everything begins and ends in the garden. At its most fundamental level, her cooking philosophy is about respecting the ingredients and letting their natural flavors speak for themselves.

Ali Clarke is a culinary producer, food stylist and recipe developer working in Los Angeles, California. After receiving a BA from New York University, she started her career working as an event planner for nonprofit organizations in New York City. From there she pursued her culinary passions by enrolling in The Institute of Culinary Education in New York. After graduating, she combined her love for production and culinary arts and began working in the food media industry. Over the last ten years she has worked on everything from food television shows, to digital content, to cookbooks. Projects include Dinner at Tiffani’s, Iron Chef America, 30-Minute Meals, Guy’s Big Bite, Youtube’s Hungry Channel, Buzzfeed’s Tasty Channel, and Tiffani Thiessen’s cookbook “Pull Up a Chair.”
