Chef Anne Burrell

Hoping to regain bragging rights for her Red Team after losing to Chef Bobby last season, Chef Anne believes she can mentor a winner out of these recruits.

The Red Team

Mike, Casey, Jamie, Ken, Benji, Carol and Stephanie make up the Red Team.

Benji has only tried to cook twice in his life — both attempts a disaster — and even though he has a fear of new foods, he is willing to try and change his eating habits to create a healthier environment for himself and his partner of five years.

Carol wants to be able to have her husband and family sit down to a home-cooked meal like the ones her mother used to cook for her Italian family. Her biggest challenge will be getting over her fear of the kitchen, where she tends to get easily overwhelmed.

When Casey attempts to cook, danger looms — she has set off fire alarms, burned food and cut herself. She is also a germaphobe. For the sake of her health and her boyfriend's, Casey wants to learn how to cook and conquer her culinary fears.

Jamie has a sophisticated palate and loves good food, but he knows nothing about making it. He hopes to be able to cook for his husband and family, who are all skilled cooks. His goal is to host fabulous dinner parties with his husband in their apartment.

Although Ken likes to think he is confident in his cooking skills, his girlfriend disagrees — and she has noticed more and more junk food entering his diet. Ken admits his lazy food choices have crept back, and he is determined to learn to make fresh, healthy food on his own.

Mike grew up using the microwave to cook, and he never really learned his way around the kitchen. He is ready to propose to his girlfriend and start a family, but the only thing that stands in his way is learning how to cook properly.

Food plays a big part in Stephanie's Haitian heritage, but she has yet to master any recipe. Stephanie lives at home and wants to learn how to cook so she can help her mother with the cooking. Her biggest fears are not being able to pass on the family tradition and never settling down with a husband.
