Anne Burrell knows how to run a restaurant kitchen, but how will she fare with a team of eight hopeless cooks?

David Shelton (Pittsburg, Texas)

A meat and potatoes-eating Texan, David needs variety in his diet. His wife has become a vegan in order to avoid his cooking, preventing her and David from sharing a meal together. To save his own diet and marriage, David needs to learn how to cook.

Kelli Powers (Valley Village, Calif.)

Kelli’s Nana — her grandmother — saw great cooking potential in her as a child, though Kelli was more interested in hitting the books than the pots and pans. Now a mother herself, Kelli wants to maintain her family’s cooking traditions and is determined to no longer be the mom whose dish sits untouched at potlucks.

Anthony Schiano (Massapequa, N.Y.)

A mechanical engineer, Anthony is often frustrated by the creative aspects of cooking. He is embarrassed that he cannot host dinners for his Italian family and hopes that improved cooking abilities will create more romance in his marriage.

Dorothy Strouhal (Cove, Texas)

Dorothy is a makeup artist proud of her pink hair, blunt attitude and creative energy. However, she cannot boast about her cooking, as her vanilla chicken has put her husband in the hospital with food poisoning. Dorothy hopes to gain tools to foster bonding time in the kitchen with her youngest daughter, who has a passion for cooking.

Rachel Margolin (New York)

A self-described hipster, Rachel is outgoing and fashionable and recently lost considerable weight, so she must learn to cook healthy dishes in order to maintain her svelte new figure. She wants to improve her kitchen skills, so that she can thank those who have cooked for her and redeem her reputation in the eyes of her boyfriend’s mother.

Richard Chen (New York)

For Richard, knowing how to cook is imperative, as his longtime girlfriend refuses to marry him until he becomes proficient in the kitchen. In order to finally start a family, Richard must ditch cooking from a can and explore tasty, healthy foods.

Robert Tamke (Massapequa Park, N.Y.)

A professional deejay and devoted father of three, Robert believes that food is purely fuel to sustain the body and considers taste an afterthought. He fears giving his family food poisoning, so he often serves them flavorless, overcooked meals and is in need of serious help in the kitchen.

Sean Bennett (New York)

A New Yorker who orders takeout seven days a week, Sean only enters the kitchen to find a menu. Though he loves to throw dinner parties, Sean has made friends sick with his food and often resorts to passing off store-bought appetizers as his own. If Sean ever wants to be taken seriously as the host with the most, he needs to cook for himself.
