Thanksgiving Buffet Table

Keep the plain white tablecloth in storage and use a festive paisley linen to display colorful dishes and casseroles instead. You'll have a colorful spread even before the food is ready.

Eggplant Menu

Use an eggplant, gourd or other large piece of produce to serve as your menu. Be sure to slice off the written side if you plan to cook the veggie after your meal.

Potted Flowers

Add height and color to your table by slicing off the tops of large squash to serve as unexpected vases filled with festive flowers in fall colors like gloriosas, dahlias, calendulas and craspedias.

Gravy for One

Use small produce to identify different buffet items. There will definitely be some gravy lovers at your table, so treat them with an entire serving of gravy in a mini gravy bowl.

Double-Duty Fondue

Still have a fondue pot you've never used for fondue? They're also great for adding dimension to your table. Use the base to serve dishes on different levels and to keep hot items from cooling down too quickly.

Thanksgiving Kids' Table

Transform the kids' table into a coloring book by using butcher paper as a tablecloth and outlining Thanksgiving-themed items in black marker for the kids to color in. The crayons double as a runner.

Squash Ship

Turn squash into a centerpiece by making a boat out of a half of a butternut squash and using acorns to anchor the sail.

Draw Something

Before kids sit down, trace iconic Thanksgiving items using a Sharpie marker so they can color them in while they're waiting for the meal to start.

Edible Turkey

Turn a pear into a turkey with a simple tail feather made from construction paper. Pin the paper on with a toothpick (instead of glue) so the kids can eat the pears when dinner is done.

Candy Cornucopia

For dessert, kids can treat themselves to an ice cream cone cornucopia filled with gummy fruits.

Play With Texture

Use a traditional color palette, but give it a rustic twist by using burlap or heavily textured linens on a more casual Thanksgiving table.

Classic Thanksgiving Colors

Go beyond what you think of as traditional "Thanksgiving colors" by using eggplant and olive green with more classic fall colors.
