We share a lot of love with our pets. And now, we can share Halloween with them in a yummy new way. Mars, the parent company of treat brands for both people and pets, is introducing a “first of its kind” Halloween box, the Mars Tails & Treating Pack, to help you and your pooch or kitty celebrate the holiday together.
What are Mars Tails & Treating Packs?
The limited-edition packs come with two boxes, each filled with treats. One part is for humans only — and is super generously filled with candy. The other is just for pets.
“Candy for people and treats for pets are packaged in separate containers within the Mars Tails & Treating packs, making it easy to store human and pet treats separately and consume safely,” the brand says.
What’s in the box for people?
The box for pet owners contains candy — and lots of it. You get five Share Size bags of Milk Chocolate M&M’s, five Full Size Snickers Chocolate candy bars and five Share Size bags of Skittles Original Fruity Candy. A seriously sweet bonanza!
The packs also include a seasonal recipe card for Ben’s Original Spooky Seven Layer Dip and a discount code to use on Ben’s Original products.
What’s in the box for pets?
The pet package is full of treats for both dogs and cats. Each box contains one pack of Greenies Dental Treats for dogs; you can choose from teeny (for dogs 5 to 15 pounds), petite (for dogs 15 to 25 pounds), regular (for 20- to 50-pound dogs) or large (for 50- to 100-pound dogs), to suit your pet’s size.
It also includes one pack of Greenies Cat Dental Treats (Catnip flavor, in the box we were sent); three packs of Pedigree Drizzlers Savory Sauce for dogs, in assorted flavors (Natural Chicken, Turkey, Beef and Lamb flavors in our pack); and one box of Temptations Lickable Spoons treats for cats (Tasty Chicken & Savory Salmon Flavor in ours).
Why did Mars introduce Tails & Treating Packs?
Mars says it was inspired by the trend of people involving their pets in their Halloween celebrations. The company found, in a recent survey it conducted with Ipsos, that 43 percent of U.S. pet owners plan to include their pets in Halloween festivities this year. Since the company owns more than 40 brands that cater to both humans and pets, it seemed uniquely suited to put out a Halloween package that people and pets could both enjoy.
“As a family-owned company, at Mars we know holidays mean more when we can celebrate together,” Tim LeBel, chief Halloween officer and president of sales at Mars Wrigley North America, a division of Mars, Incorporated, said in a press release. “We’re excited to give Americans the chance to extend spooky season celebrations to their beloved pets with our Mars Tails & Treating Packs — a first-of-its kind product innovation that only a company like Mars can offer.”
Where can you buy a Mars Tails & Treating Pack?
The Mars Tails & Treating Packs just dropped at www.marstailsandtreating.com and will continue to be available as long as supplies last. They’re sold at a startlingly reasonable price, especially given how much candy they include: $10.31 (a nod to the holiday), along with sales tax, which will vary by state.
Is there anything else to know?
Just one more thing: To celebrate the launch of the Mars Tails & Treating Packs and to contribute to building a “better world for pets,” Mars is donating $10,000 to the Pedigree Foundation, a nonprofit working to help adoptable dogs find loving homes. That may be the sweetest part of all.
