Reese’s Pumpkins Are Going Mini This Halloween

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are, and for decades have been, a staple of trick-or-treat bags every October 31. But as any candy connoisseur knows, there’s something special about Reese’s holiday-themed shapes, whether pumpkins for Halloween, eggs at Easter or Christmas trees during winter celebrations. Generally, it has to do with how much more peanut butter filling (or less milk chocolate coating) hits your mouth with each bite. And fans of these festive shapes are so fervent that, in previous years, Hershey has even offered the chance to buy Reese’s Pumpkins in July.
But if you’re not the “bigger is always better” type, you may be in luck. This Halloween, Reese’s is taking things tiny with Reese’s Mini Pumpkins Unwrapped in a smaller and decidedly more snack-friendly size.
Reese’s Mini Pumpkins Unwrapped are described as a “poppable” version of the gourd-shaped goodies. Unlike their larger, individually wrapped cousins, these roughly marble-sized pumpkins come in a larger shareable pouch and feature more of a toothy chocolate shell filled with a bit of peanut butter. From our taste test, these Minis seem to satisfy the other end of the Reese’s shapes spectrum, as a crunchier, chocolate-forward take.
Also joining Hershey’s fall lineup are Twizzlers Ghosts, Jolly Rancher Gummies Trickies (the colors of which don’t always match their flavor), and Hershey’s Nuggets with a Pumpkin Spice Latte filling, as well as the classic Reese’s Pumpkins and Reese’s Miniatures featuring Peanuts characters from the perennial classic It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

And fans of Kit Kat should be on the lookout for new Kit Kat Counts, a vampire-shaped bar that sort of turns the tables on Dracula when it comes to who is biting who. To accommodate the bar’s unique character shape, the makers of Kit Kat actually had to make a wider wafer to go inside, meaning, perhaps in the same way some Reese’s fans have a certain penchant for shapes of cups, some Kit Kat lovers might have a new favorite chocolate-to-filling ratio to obsess over.
