Weight loss drugs have changed how people approach, eat, and buy food. According to a 2026 poll conducted by J.P. Morgan Global Research, approximately 25 million Americans will be on GLP-1 treatment by 2030, a notable increase from 2025, which saw an estimate of 10 million people. This change is significant, so much so that the food industry is responding by producing "GLP-1 friendly" foods.
Eating when on GLP-1s is much different compared to traditional weight loss plans. With a much smaller appetite, every bite you take counts even more to help you get essential nutrients and help prevent deficiencies, which are quite common with continued GLP-1 use. Below you’ll find the specific dietary needs for those on GLP-1 medications, and what food brands have been doing to make finding "GLP-1 friendly" foods easier.
GLP-1 Nutrition Basics
Many people experience various side effects when on GLP-1 medications. The most common include reduced appetite and a lessened sense of thirst. Nausea, constipation, hair loss, bloating, headaches, indigestion, low energy, muscle loss, and dehydration are also common.
Because your appetite is so low, it’s even more important to eat a combination of nutrient-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, lean proteins, milk and dairy, and healthy fats. Specific nutrients that GLP-1 users don’t get enough of typically include:
- Protein: This macro helps maintain muscle mass and promotes healthy skin, hair, and nails. Protein-rich foods are a source of amino acids (the building block of protein) that provide a variety of B-vitamins, vitamin E, iron, zinc, and magnesium. A lack of protein can lead to a side effect known as "Ozempic face" (or emaciation in the facial region) and can lead to hair loss and weak nails.
- Fiber: Constipation is a common symptom of taking GLP-1s, so reaching target fiber goals is even more important to help keep you regular. It is recommended that people on GLP-1 medications have at least 25 grams of fiber per day.
- Calcium and Vitamin D: Both of these nutrients work together to help keep bones healthy and tend to be under-consumed in the U.S., so when your appetite is low, you can become deficient easily.
- Vitamin B-12: This vitamin is found in animal and some fortified foods. If you’re not getting enough protein, vitamin B-12 can become an issue.
- Iron: Iron is a common deficiency, and it can be difficult to get enough when on GLP-1s.
- Electrolytes: With issues like vomiting, diarrhea, and lack of thirst common while on GLP-1s, taking in enough electrolytes can be a concern.
Due to the appetite suppression caused by GLP-1 use, meal portion sizes also tend to be much smaller — around 1 cup per meal. Because of this, many food companies have started creating "GLP-1 friendly" meals and snacks that place a much greater emphasis on needed nutrients.
"GLP-1 Friendly" Foods
Food manufacturers have been very busy creating easy-to-find options for those on GLP-1 weight loss medications. Some have opted to use "GLP-1 friendly" labels, while others call out specific nutrients that are important for those on weight loss medications like protein, fiber, or both.
Foods that call out protein and/or fiber should also provide other good-for-you nutrients. Below you’ll find specific examples of brands that are "GLP-1 friendly" or provide GLP-1 support:
- Vital Pursuit: This frozen food line includes pizzas, bowls, and sandwiches that are labelled as "GLP-1 friendly." The brand also lists out the amount of protein, fiber, and net carbs for each product. These meals are designed with high-protein and essential nutrients that those on GLP-1s may not get enough of including calcium, iron, and vitamin A.
- Daily Harvest GLP-1 Support Bundle: This frozen line of eight high-protein smoothies and four classic smoothies are recommended to be used as snacks, light meals, or meal replacements.
- Healthy Choice Cafe and Cafe Steamers: These two lines of portion-controlled healthy frozen meals feature a "GLP-1 friendly" label, plus they list out their calories, protein, and fiber. The Cafe line includes herb-roasted chicken with vegetables and meatloaf with mashed potatoes, while the Cafe Steamers line includes Swedish meatballs, chicken lo mein, chicken fajita, beef teriyaki, and more.

Protein- and Fiber-Filled Foods
Instead of using a "GLP-1-friendly" label, other brands have opted to call out important nutrients that are essential for people taking GLP-1s, specifically protein and fiber. This means that these meals not only benefit GLP-1 users, but also consumers looking to incorporate more of these nutrients into their daily diets. Some of these better-for-you options include cereals, oatmeal, cottage cheese, ultra-filtered milk, Greek yogurt, legume pasta, jerky, tuna, kefir, and many other foods easily found at the grocery store.
Bottom Line: Whether you're looking for GLP-1 supportive labels or healthy products that call out protein or fiber, choose foods that provide good-for-you nutrients or can be easily paired with other nutrient-filled foods.
