If You Love Our Place's Always Pan, You Need Their New Tagine
These limited-edition tagines are handmade by artisans in Morocco, and designed to add even more versatility to your Always Pan.
The Always Pan from Our Place is already one of the most versatile pieces of cookware out there — it replaces eight pieces of traditional cookware, from a sauté pan to a steamer. (We've tried it and can attest, it's a must-buy.) Today, Our Place is introducing a new lid that will transform your Always Pan into yet another piece of cookware. This time, a tagine.
According to a press release, the Our Place Tagine is the brand's newest addition to their Traditionware collection, which is, "a celebration of the rituals we hold close and share around a table," according to the brand. Our Place partnered with Moroccan artists to design and handcraft these beautifully glazed, clay tagines. Each one is unique and is crafted to sit on top of both the Always Pan and Cast Iron Always Pan.
Our Place co-founder Shiza Shahid says, "With its impeccable Moroccan craftsmanship and beautiful, modern design, the Tagine pays homage to the rich cooking traditions of Northern Africa and embodies Our Place's mission to bring people together around food and to make cooking easier and more joyful."
The tagine dates back centuries and has a unique shape that allows steam to circulate during cooking. The conical shape lets condensation drip down into whatever's cooking, so your meal becomes extra-tender, juicy and flavorful. It's perfect for making savory stews, traditional curries, spicy shakshuka and flavorful bean or rice dishes.
The cooking process in a tagine can be similar to a Dutch oven, so if you love braising and slow-cooking in your Dutch oven, we have a feeling you'll love cooking with a tagine. Traditionally, tagines were designed to be used on an open fire or over a bed of charcoal, but you can use this one on a gas or electric stove.
When you order a Tagine for your Always Pan, you'll also get a Tiny Tagine — which is perfect for filling with your favorite flaky salt or go-to seasoning — and a jar of Ras El Hanout from New York Shuk. Ras El Hanout is a blend of warming spices (cumin, coriander, paprika and garlic) that will add amazing flavor to whatever you make in your new tagine.
