Inside Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli's Restaurant
Newly crowned Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli gives a tour of Butter Restaurant in New York City, where she's the executive chef.
The Newest Iron Chef
Iron Chef Guarnaschelli is the executive chef at the Butter Restaurants in New York City. She’s also a veteran judge on Chopped. Returning for a chance at redemption, Chef Guarnaschelli survived all eight of the Chairman’s intense challenges and was crowned the newest Iron Chef.
Butter Restaurant's Great Room
Butter opened in March 2002 and features a large photographic mural of a birch forest, softly illuminating the room from the back wall.
A Giant Butter Dish
In a recent interview with the Iron Chef, she called the restaurant's rounded vaulted ceilings, "her own giant butter dish." With the warm yellow hues, we don't blame her.
Diners can enjoy a casual meal at the 12-seat bar or sip on cocktails like the Butter Martini, 415 Manhattan and Mickey Blue Eyes.
In Her Element
Chef Guarnaschelli's menu features local and seasonal ingredients sourced from various local farmers.
The Birch Room
The owners wanted to create a restaurant with the best of both worlds: a formal dining space upstairs and a more casual dining experience located downstairs.
The Birch Room Bar
The Birch Room is infused with a red glow and features an extensive wine rack. Guests enjoying themselves at the downstairs bar can usually find themselves being entertained by a DJ.
Coat of Arms
Chef Guarnaschelli wears many hats: mom, executive chef, Chopped judge and now an Iron Chef. "I feel very passionate about maintaining the same level of standard and respect for the food as an Iron Chef myself."
