You can find a Negroni on every cocktail menu these days, so why not make a cranberry sauce based on the flavors of this popular drink? The very grown-up flavors of Campari, vermouth and gin make for a more complex cranberry sauce and a fun change from the usual.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine the cranberries, sugar, 1/2 cup water, the Campari, gin, vermouth, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 2 strips orange zest in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, reduce the heat to maintain a steady simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the berries burst and the sauce has thickened, 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from the heat.
  2. Remove and discard the orange zest, then stir in the lemon juice. Let cool, then refrigerate until ready to serve. Transfer to a bowl and garnish with the remaining strip of orange zest.
