This trip, Guy's getting into a festival of flavorful faves. In Miami, Fla., the local watering hole puttin' a unique spin on standard bar food with the loaded chimi burrito and lobster lollipops. In Sandy, Utah, the mountain town favorite scratch-makin' everything from breads to smoked meats and a creative combos like Canadian bacon and potato croquettes and white bean and steak pizza. And in Salt Lake City, the New Jersey native serving up authentic Italian family recipes like the larger than life ten ounce meatball.
The usual rounds of appetizer, entree and dessert are replaced with breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the judges are hoping for pure decadence! In the first round, black forest bacon and prune juice are two of the mystery ingredients that the competitors must manage to transform. Then in the lunch round, some colorful surprises are in the basket. Finally, when the chefs find some dream ingredients in the dinner basket, will they successfully rise to the occasion and make a final plate that the judges will adore?
There are mixed reactions from the chefs when they learn that they will be competing with three baskets of leftovers. When time starts in the first round, the chefs frantically dig in to takeout containers from various types of restaurants. Then in the entree round, some forgotten packets of hot sauce find their way in to the basket and one chef realizes a critical error too late. And who knew there was such thing as leftover bacon, one of the ingredients in the dessert round?
In this day and age, donuts aren't just for dessert! We're frying a batch of donuts for every meal of the day starting off in Minneapolis, MN, with a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich made on a sweet glazed donut. For lunch, we're in Texas for donuts loaded with barbecue brisket. When dinner rolls around, we're checking out donut burgers and donut French onion soup. If you've got a donut-shaped hole in your soul just waiting to be filled, you won't want to miss this!
Seven of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives' best chefs are still in the running to become the first DDD Legends Champion. The next stop on Guy Fieri's Flavortown 500 racecourse is Breakfast Boulevard, and the chefs who succeed in making a baller brunch, despite having to detour around the eggs, bacon and potato displays, get to continue their race for the $30,000 prize. The bottom two chefs must flip a list of iconic brunch ingredients into a weeknight dinner in the sudden-death elimination round.
Guy Fieri loves bar snacks for their big and often addictive flavor, so he's sharing a couple of his favorite off the hook recipes. First up, Lollipopped Spicy Asian Chicken Wings — they look fancy, and taste even better. Next, Spicy Jalapeno Artichoke Dip, with Swiss chard, tons of cheese, bacon and more: Pair with sturdy tortilla chips and it's a meal! And what are bar snacks without the bar? To wash it all down, Guy's Peated Lemons Cocktail is smoky, citrusy, herbal and totally money!
