Four amazing teenaged chefs invade the Chopped Kitchen for Chopped's second teen competition. The judges are in awe of what the teen chefs do with tuna and cereal in the first round. In the entree round, will the young cooks be taken aback when they open the basket to find something that requires some skilled butchery? The last two teens standing must make dessert with a snack food and an Asian condiment.
Four chef/entrepreneurs have something to prove in the Chopped kitchen. In the first round, will their hearts sink when they see hearts of palm and rabbit escabeche in the basket? And a curious ingredient substitution leaves the judges perplexed. Then three chefs fight to make goat chops a great main dish ... or risk being chopped. And it's crunch time for two finalists, when they must make dessert using blue corn tortilla chips.
In Mary Berg's world, when life gives you lemons, you put them in everything! Lemons are her absolute main squeeze in the kitchen, and she can never get enough. Using her all-time favorite ingredient as the star, Mary starts with sweets by baking Lemon Raspberry Loaf topped with a bright pink glaze, sure to satisfy her inner old lady at tea time. Moving on to mains, Mary whips up Lemon Parmesan Chicken that's fancy enough for guests but quick enough for any night of the week. Then, she shows off a zesty take on carbonara: Creamy Lemon Crab Pasta with a nutty sesame topping. To finish it off, she obviously has to make Lemonade infused with seasonal berries and fresh mint.
In a city that celebrates like no other, brothers Jamie and Bobby Deen set out to discover some secrets behind the spectacular New Orleans cuisine scene. Like the locals, they start their day with a Hubig Fried Pie. Made from scratch, fried to perfection, and coated with sugar icing, these fruit pies have been a favorite for 100 years. The boys really soak up the Cajun spirit with a cup of Tee-Eva’s Seafood Gumbo, a succulent and uniquely New Orleans dish that has graced the tables of Hollywood stars and in-the-know locals alike. Of course, the King Cake is an absolute must-have dessert when celebrating New Orleans' style, and Haydel Bakery is the place to be. They’ve been baking this royal pastry from scratch for generations. And after all that sweet, the boys go in search of salty and happen upon the great taste of award-winning Zapp’s Potato Chips, which are kettle-cooked with Cajun flavor that will leave you longing for more. All their favorites can be shipped directly to you!
