It's back to basics on amping up flavor with the magic factor. It's a day of kitchen chemistry for Ina as she tests recipes with and without the magic ingredient that really unlocks the flavor of a dish. First lemon zest in Easy Cheese Danish, then salt and vinegar add their magic to Chicken Salad Sandwiches and finally Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes with and without coffee. Each recipe with and without its magic ingredient gets put to the taste test by Ina's work colleagues to earn its magic factor title.
It's all about Americans in Paris as Ina Garten hits the French capital, visiting some of the city's finest restaurants helmed by American chefs. She begins by making pear clafoutis with Chicago-born Daniel Rose at his incredible restaurant Spring, then learns the secrets of Boston-bred Braden Perkins' sea bream ceviche at his place, Ellsworth. Next, she's making American classics – lobster rolls with a French twist with Gregory Marchand of Frenchie to Go and whiskey sours at the bar of the iconic Le Meurice hotel. Then, Ina whips up delicious pastrami tartines at Poilane Bakery and throws Jeffrey a surprise birthday party with a boat trip down the River Seine.
Ina takes her inspiration from Parisian markets, food stores and street cafes and translates scary traditional French recipes into easy foolproof have a go dishes.
