In this Good Eats video, Alton Brown details why this southern classic is the perfect holiday recipe. It’s simple and quick to make. First, place the cream and sugar into the bowl of a stand mixer. Use the whisk attachment to whip until stiff peaks are formed. Now whisk the sour cream into the mixture. Proceed to add marshmallows, orange, pineapple, coconut, pecans and cherries whilst stirring into the mix. Transfer to a glass serving bowl, cover and place in the refrigerator for 2 hours before serving.
Food Network shows you how to make a Summer Layered Salad. Add tomatoes, mayonnaise, white wine vinegar, honey, cayenne pepper, kosher salt and lemon juice to a blender and puree until smooth. Coat chicken breasts with tomato dressing and a bit of salt in a bowl and toss to completely cover. On a large platter, brush the tomato dressing onto sourdough bread slices, corn on the cob and zucchini slices, then salt. Grill the corn, zucchini and bread. Grill the chicken breasts until cooked through. Chop the chicken, zucchini and bread into cubes. Scrape the corn off the cob into a bowl. In another bowl, add romaine lettuce, fresh basil, the cubed chicken, the cubed zucchini, feta cheese, the corn. Repeat with another layer of romaine lettuce, fresh basil, the cubed bread and tomatoes to complete the summer salad.
