Cake Boss Buddy Valastro Baked Gigi Hadid a Cake – And It Brought Her to Tears

Cake Boss Buddy Valastro has earned a reputation for jaw-dropping, extravagant desserts. But his latest creation really takes the… bagel?
To celebrate Gigi Hadid’s 25th birthday, the super baker and reality show star sent the quarantined model and her family a giant everything bagel-shaped cake. Traditional? No. Delicious? Absolutely. Valastro nailed the look of an actual bagel, from the toasted color and whipped texture of the “cream cheese” frosting, down to the poppy seed, garlic flakes and pretzel salt sprinkles. Complemented with a side of real bagels, mini pancakes and orange juice, it’s almost easy to forget this is, in fact, a cake. (Are we the only ones craving breakfast now?)
Made out of vanilla and chocolate sponge with a chocolate chip buttercream filling — Hadid’s favorite, according to Valastro — the faux bagel was a sweet surprise. “Gigi's team reached out to me directly and we coordinated all the details from start to pick up together,” says the Cake Boss. “We hand carved the cake from normal 10-inch round cakes and put our creative skills to work on the perfect everything bagel cake for Gigi.”
Apparently, Hadid is a huge fan of Valastro and has watched Cake Boss for over a decade. She wrote on her Instagram post, “I CRIED REAL TEARS! BUDDY! This is a dream come true. I can’t believe you made this cake for me while the bakery is closed. It means more to me than you know, and when we hopefully meet some day you will truly know that there almost isn’t an episode I’ve missed. 10/10 would be a Carlo’s intern whenever needed.”
Perhaps that means a guest appearance in the future?
