It’s safe to say that collapsible kitchenware is having a moment. From coffee cups and water bottles to mixing bowls and even colanders, it feels like all kitchen products are working to be more storage-friendly. This feels especially important for products that are designed for on-the-go drinking — who wants to lug around a heavy water bottle all day? To find out why this trend has become so prominent so quickly, we spoke with Que water bottle co-founder Jean Wu. While Wu acknowledges that part of the trend is due to millennials opting for city life (and the small living quarters that come with it!), she thinks there’s more to it than that.

“I think people are really hopping on the collapsible gadget train because they are extremely lightweight and flexible yet still durable,” says Wu. “Being eco-friendly is also another very important component.”

The fact that they are so environmentally friendly may just be the reason why these products are unlikely to go away any time soon. “Because collapsible gadgets are more lightweight and compact, they are easy to bring with and help eliminate the use of single-use plastic,” says Wu.

Whether you're tired of carrying around a large to-go coffee cup and water bottle or you're low on kitchen storage, collapsible kitchen products can make your life easier. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite space-saving products below.
