Try one of these Peeps treats this Easter for the cutest sugar rush ever. Peeps are marshmallow candy covered in colored sanding sugar, and they come in a plethora of colors and flavors. In fact, most recipes that use marshmallows can be modified to accommodate Peeps, so crack open your imagination egg (i.e., your brain) and see what amazing creations pop out. Here are some of my favorites.

These easy edible centerpieces double as fun spring party favors. Give your guests the lids when they leave to take their terrariums home.

Fill the bottom quarter of Mason jars with your favorite brownie mix and bake as directed. Let cool completely, then top with green-tinted shredded coconut,Cadbury chocolate Mini Eggs, Easter-themed sprinkles and a duck-shaped Peep. To color 1 cup of coconut, toss with a drop of Leaf Green food coloring diluted in 1/4 cup water; let dry before using the coconut.

Wake up with sweet Peeps floating in hot chocolate when there is a spring chill in the air.

Sweet potatoes topped with marshmallow bunny Peeps may help your kids eat their veggies in style ... Peep style, that is! The Peeps will melt into the warm potato boats as they sail forth.

This was inspired by Alton Brown's ambrosia salad, with mini strawberry Peeps cut in half substituted for the marshmallows in the recipe. The strawberry-flavored peeps are very sweet, so use plain nonfat Greek yogurt instead of whipped cream, for balance as well as an extra dose of protein.

Let Peeps take on all of the heavy lifting at your next party. Line a Bundt pan with bunny Peeps, and press in warm marshmallow-coated Trix cereal. Let set, unmold, flip, and decorate with chicks and sprinkles.

Start with two 3 3/8-ounce packages of Peeps (color of your choice, but stick to all one color or the color will be muddy) plus more Peeps for decorating, 1/3 bag of mini marshmallows, 1 stick of butter, one 10.7-ounce box of Trix cereal, and sprinkles. Melt the marshmallows and butter over low heat, stir in the Trix, then press into a greased Bundt pan lined with sprinkles and Peeps. Let cool completely, unmold and voila!

Press jimmies, jelly beans and Peeps in a rainbow of colors into a freshly frosted layer cake. You can remember the sequence of the colors of the rainbow with the good old acronym Roy G. Biv.

Don't worry, Peeps don't need to breathe, and I swear they were having fun in there ... at least until they started to dissolve.

Fill a nonreactive, lidded container with the Peeps in the color of your choice. Fill with vodka or rum and steep for 4 to 8 hours or until the Peeps are mostly dissolved. Remove any remaining Peeps and serve in your favorite spring cocktail.
