Cutting, chopping and dicing ingredients is one of the most essential, yet tedious tasks when it comes to cooking. Recipes can call for plenty of prep work, let alone if you’re making something for a large group. The next time you’ve found the perfect soup recipe but half of the ingredients need to be diced first, try this simple and sturdy food chopper to cut down your prep time.

To use this chopper, just line up your desired ingredient on the stainless steel grid and press down on the top half to push the food through the blades, cutting them into ready-to-use cubes. At the base of the chopper is a storage bin, ready to catch all of your cubed veggies. The bin has a convenient pour opening, allowing you to cut veggies and pour them right into your pot or pan. Its rubber external lining provides a no-slip solution, easing worries about the chopper sliding around while you use it. In Food Network’s test, even the trickiest ingredients to dice properly, like bell peppers and tomatoes, become light work with this chopper.

A rubber grid attachment under the lid makes cleaning it a breeze. Just remove the attachment and stuck food bits – tomato skin, an errant onion peel – that would normally make this a pain to clean comes off with ease. The chopper is also dishwasher-safe, reducing time spent cleaning every crevice of the grid.

Prep time spent cutting things puts a damper on your excitement to cook or meal prep. With your recipe’s prep time slashed, make an easy mirepoix base for soups, compose a chopped salad, prepare a fresh pico de gallo or a rustic guacamole. If you need to prepare an easy lunch, cut up hard-boiled eggs for easy egg salad sandwiches. Think outside of the vegetable drawer: chop fresh fruit for a ready-to-go fruit salad or frozen fruit to make your morning smoothie a little easier on your blender blades.
