Raise your hand if you have kids who love to cook. OK, now raise your hand if you also have kids who, for some reason, “forget” to clean up after themselves all the time.

Hi. You’re my people.

My kids are 9, and they’re beginning to show more interest in cooking, which I do find awesome. One daughter is into baking, another is working on her fried egg technique and my son is learning to grill. No one’s a fan of doing dishes, though. So, as much as I hate to admit it, I cringe (on the inside, you guys, I'm not a monster) any time someone wants to make a recipe that requires measuring cups, measuring spoons, utensils and multiple bowls. Sorry, pancakes, but I’m looking at you.

It's not hard to make pancakes, no. Our best buttermilk pancakes recipe takes only 25 minutes from start to finish and relies on common ingredients, so you could even say it’s easy to make pancakes. But what if you could make them and skip the dishes? What if YOUR KIDS could make them and basically dirty only the griddle?

Well, let me introduce you to Happy Grub Squeezable Instant Pancake Mix, aka your new favorite way to let your kids make their own breakfast, with just a little supervision and hardly any mess.

"Shake and squeeze." I was intrigued. OK, maybe I was skeptical. But the kids and I were excited to give this product a try, regardless of the outcome. All you (or the kids) have to do is add water to the container, shake until the powder inside is transformed into pancake mix and squeeze it onto the griddle — it's really that easy!

One bottle of mix makes over 20 (3-inch) pancakes, but what's great about pancake mix in a squeezable bottle is that you can get creative. My kids love "drawing" with their pancake mix, though I do advise you don't make your shapes too small: Thin lines of batter will cook too quickly and therefore won't be nice and fluffy like a good pancake. If you're making letters, just be sure to go over your lines a few times.

I also love that, if you just want a few pancakes, you can store the leftover mix in the fridge for up to three days. The next time you want a hot breakfast, all you have to do is heat up the griddle and grab your mix — and don't worry about who will be stuck with the dishes.
