This pear and raspberry crumble straddles summer and early fall. The sweet fruit filling is topped with a nutty oat and whole wheat crumble, packed with chunks of semisweet chocolate for a touch of decadence.

Directions
Make the topping: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Stir together both flours, the oats, brown sugar and salt in a medium bowl. Stir in the melted butter until clumps form, then stir in the chocolate. Refrigerate the topping until ready to bake.
Make the filling: Stir together the pears, granulated sugar, flour, lemon juice, vanilla and salt in a large bowl. Let sit until the sugar dissolves and the pears begin to release their juices, at least 5 minutes.
Butter a 2-quart baking dish and add half of the pear mixture; scatter half of the raspberries on top. Repeat with the remaining pears and raspberries. Scatter the topping over the fruit.
Bake until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling, 55 minutes to 1 hour 5 minutes. Loosely cover with foil if the topping begins to brown too much. Let cool about 1 hour. Serve with ice cream.
