A shandy is a beer-based drink that typically includes something non-alcoholic such as lemon juice. This wheat beer version is combined with rye whiskey or bourbon, plus a pumpkin spiced syrup that makes this the perfect fall beverage for pumpkin spice lovers.

Directions
Combine the sugar, 1/2 cup water and the pumpkin in a small saucepan. Add 2 cinnamon sticks, the cloves, allspice berries, nutmeg, a pinch of salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sugar is dissolved. Let cool completely, then strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve.
For each drink, fill a tall glass with ice. Add the bourbon, 1 ounce of the pumpkin syrup and the lemon juice and stir. Top with beer. Garnish with the remaining cinnamon stick.
