We took classic bagel toppings and combined them with sliced cucumber for a dish inspired by Logan Moffitt’s TikTok-famous shaken salads. Our everything-except-the-bagel version is vegetarian as well as gluten-free and gets loaded into a 2-quart container so it’s a generous amount for 2 to 4 people. Tomatoes and red onion add color, capers and everything-bagel seasoning add classic flavor while avocado and whipped cream cheese turn into a creamy dressing that coats the cucumbers deliciously. We recommend shaking the mix just before eating to keep the salad crisp and the dressing thick, not watery.

Ingredients

Directions

Special equipment:
a mandoline (optional); a 2-quart airtight container with lid
  1. Thinly slice the cucumber and red onion to about 1/8-inch-thick on a mandoline or with a sharp knife. Place in a 2-quart airtight container with a lid. Add the tomato halves, capers, avocado, cream cheese, lemon zest, bagel seasoning, dill and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Seal the container and shake vigorously until mixed and the cream cheese is completely incorporated, about 1 minute. (You may have to scrape the sides of the container to get the cream cheese incorporated.) Taste and add salt if needed. Serve immediately.
