If you want to get dessert on the table in under 10 minutes and with minimal ingredients, look no further than Bananas Foster. It's a sweet, salty and nutty bite that, when paired with ice cream, is the ultimate warm/cold contrast. Set out all your ingredients right next to the stove to make the process efficient and quick.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Heat a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the butter and brown sugar and stir until just dissolved, about 1 minute. Turn the heat to high. Once the mixture is bubbling, add the bananas. Add the vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and kosher salt.
  3. Turn off the heat. Add the rum, then use a long stick lighter to ignite the liquor. Allow the flame to burn off the alcohol.
  4. Reduce until the sauce is thick and glazing the bananas, about 2 minutes. Garnish with the walnuts. Serve over ice cream divided among four bowls. Top with flaky salt if desired.
