Three generations of chefs inspired by Grandma's Old World recipes face off against a tight-knit family of young Mexican women with their own family recipes. The Steiner family has roots in French and Moroccan cuisine, with young executive chef Josh serving many of his grandmother's recipes at his own restaurant. Sisters Bianca and Irlanda, along with their cousin, Salma, grew up with traditional Mexican recipes passed down through generations, and now they run a catering business. Host Valerie Bertinelli challenges the teams to make brunches that represent their families, hearty meat and potatoes meals and their best guilty pleasure dishes, and judges Antonia Lofaso, Bricia Lopez and Johnny Spero decide which team blows them away.
The remaining four finalists pack their bags and prepare to head to Miami for their next challenge. Before taking off with JetBlue, they meet Ted Allen and OTG Concept Chef Michael Coury and learn their next challenge: create a dish for one of OTG Management’s restaurants at JetBlue’s Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
After presenting their dishes, the finalists fly to Miami and discover they’ll be catering a swanky party at the fabulous Nikki Beach nightclub. The JetBlue challenge winner assigns roles for each finalist, and the team scrambles to pull off an extraordinary party!
The next finalist is eliminated.

First the bride requests the Shed cook a whole hog for the reception, which is a four day process that she needs finished in less than two. But the icing on the situation is the wedding cake, which Mama Shed and Hobson must attempt to cook in the barbecue smoker. Her off-menu order for crawfish falls upon Coal Miner and Big Hoss, who after failing to trap enough of the critters, must buy, clean and cook them ... all of which creates a huge challenge for Brad and the Shed crew to get to the church on time!
Chef Cliff Crooks reaches out to help Kwame, whose first restaurant failed. As the owner and head chef of Chicken Fire, he knows everything about chicken and how to cook and fry it, but he knows little else that will help his second business survive. Inayah dreams of owning a brick-and-mortar location, but she's stuck in her catering business, not knowing how to move forward. From the outside, Vira seems to have it all as the owner of four restaurants, but her goal of branching out to multiple cities is on hold. She may have the culinary chops, but Cliff needs her to realize that a leader must communicate and listen to their team.
