California Cravings

The San Diego County Fair is one of the biggest in the country, serving food and fun to over 1.5 million people every year. With 65 food vendors, there's no shortage of the festival food Anthony is after. "I've got a lot of ground to cover," he said before digging in.

More About: San Diego County Fair

Deep-Fried Twinkie — Chicken Charlie

Every year, Chicken Charlie brings a different specialty to the fair. This year, it was a deep-fried Twinkie that cost $125 ... all because it was covered in caviar. "Decadence at the county fair!" Anthony shouted.

Barbecue Sundae — Chuckwagon Express

Nope, it's not an ice cream sundae. It's actually smoked brisket on top of barbecue beans, homemade coleslaw and mashed potatoes. It's even finished off with a cherry tomato on top. "Come to Papa," Anthony said when he first saw it.

Seven-Layer S'mores — The Gingerbread Shop

This creation starts with a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough, followed by graham crackers, then marshmallow cream, chocolate bars, more graham crackers and more cookie dough. Finally, it is covered in marshmallows, toasted and smothered in ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. "You've outdone yourself with this," Anthony told the chef.

Thai Chicken Fry Bread — Indian Fry Bread

Although this dish isn't chock-full of indulgent ingredients, it doesn't lack anything in the flavor department, according to Anthony. It's just traditional fry bread topped with cabbage and chicken tossed in a sweet chili and soy glaze. "That bread is very light," Anthony said as he took the first bite.

The Betty White — Pink's Hot Dogs

The Betty White is just a plain hot dog, so Anthony had to put his own spin on it. He added cheese, chili, onions and pastrami. "So it's going to be a Betty White and Anthony Anderson," he said.
