Meet the Winner of 'Worst Cooks in America: Reality Check'

The best of the worst is here — and his name is Reza Farahan.

The Shahs of Sunset and star of The Valley: Persian Style is now one of the former Worst Cooks in America after bringing home the Season 30 victory with the help of chef Tiffany Derry.

Who Is Reza Farahan?

From the mountains of Tehran to the hills of Los Angeles, Reza’s journey to become one of reality TV’s most iconic realtors is one of a kind.

For almost a decade, Reza starred alongside his husband, Adam, in the hit Bravo reality series Shahs of Sunset. As an openly gay Iranian-American, Reza was drawn to the spotlight to serve as a role model for queer youth and Middle Eastern people alike. Now, he’s showing them that it’s never too late to learn how to cook.

The Winning Meal

Reza’s first-place finish came as the result of hard work, creativity and a willingness to embrace a challenge. For the final challenge, Reza and runner-up Beverley Mitchell had to cook a three-course meal without their mentors being able to touch or taste any component of the dishes. Here’s what Reza (and, to a lesser extent, Tiffany) whipped up to win over the judges.

Appetizer: Sea Bream Tartar With Shirazi Salad and Cucumber Broth

The five-star presentation alone had the judges questioning if they were on the right show. Reza’s attention to detail showed through his knife skills and dynamic addition of textures.

Entree: Seafood Thai Red Curry With Brown Rice

Everything from the tenderness of the fish to the crunch of the vegetables had the judges delighted. The lobster, shrimp and clams found the perfect balance with the vegetables’ sweetness to create a cozy gourmet experience.

Dessert: Chilled Strawberry Rhubarb Soup With Mascarpone and Pink Peppercorns

The judges were entranced by the strawberry and mint fragrance and whimsical presentation. When their only complaint is that the cream is “overwhipped,” you know you’ve done something right.

Victory and Beyond

Along with bragging rights, Reza’s victory earned him $25,000 to be donated to the charity of his choice. Thanks to Reza’s growth as a chef, City of Hope National Medical Center will be receiving a $25,000 donation to continue providing the research and treatment those with cancer need to keep fighting.
