Step Inside the Whimsigoth Kitchen From 'Practical Magic 2'

It's opulent. It's cozy. It's where all the Midnight Margaritas are made.

Practical Magic 2 premieres in theaters on September 10, and while we can't wait to see Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman recast as their original characters (sisters Sally and Gillian Owens), there's one character we're even more excited to revisit.

We're referring to the imposing, bluff-side Victorian home the Owens sisters grew up in. The house — and its magical ’90s-core interior — made its debut in 1998 when Practical Magic premiered — and it's lived in the spotlight ever since.

"That was one of the best sets I've ever seen," says Nicole. "And I've seen some sets."

Unfortunately, the house wasn't built to last. The architectural shell — constructed on San Juan Island in Washington — was torn down after filming ended. The interior scenes were shot on a soundstage. However, the return of Practical Magic means we get to experience the magic of the Owens home, its whimsical kitchen and the lush greenhouse all over again.

(To the witches who made our dreams come true, thank you.)

Rebuilding the Owens House

The new house was built on a soundstage at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in England. This time around, designers were able to make the set practical. Actors could walk from the first floor of the home to the vegetable garden outside. "We planted apple trees that started giving us fruit," says Sandra.

Though the rebuild is thousands of miles away from where the movie was originally filmed, the actors featured in the film say it feels just as magical. "Being able to act in there and move around the space grounds the whole project in reality," says Maisie Williams, who plays Sally's daughter, Antonia Owens, in the movie. "It immediately has that feeling of home."

The Greenhouse and the Kitchen

For most, the kitchen is considered the heart of the home. In the Owens household, the greenhouse rivals the kitchen's authority. Both spaces harness powerful energy, and both are featured in Practical Magic 2. Below, check out our favorite photos of these two pivotal spaces recreated.

"That house was emotional," says Sandra. "It had a soul. You can't have this film without home."
