Danielle Sepsy says she “was obsessed with cooking and baking from the time I was able to stand on a stool.” Lucky for her, there were people in her life who recognized not just her passion, but also her potential. “My grandmother Rosemarie, when I was eight, she bought me a Kitchen Aid mixer and a subscription to Martha Stewart magazine,” she recounted in a recent interview.

But it was after a childhood visit to a Long Island farmers market that little Danielle’s life was forever altered. It was there that she had her first taste of a fresh-baked scone that ultimately led to her becoming the owner of a hugely popular, New York City-based, wholesale and online bakery called The Hungry Gnome. In fact, the bakery still uses the same scone recipe that 13-year-old Danielle perfected in her home kitchen all those years before.

Danielle grew up learning to cook in her grandmother's kitchen, which is the very space she now calls her own.
"I'm cheating on my beloved scone when I say my favorite food in the entire world is a chocolate chip cookie," she says in the first episode, which you can watch here. Danielle shows you don't have to choose sides, sharing a recipe for both soft and chewy cookies and thin and crispy ones. "And really, there's a place for both," she adds.
