The Real Housewife of Salt Lake City is here to prove that not all moms need to conform to gender norms.
You know her from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, and this winter, she's coming to Worst Cooks in America: Reality Check. This season, Lisa Barlow puts down the tequila and picks up some tongs to prove that Salt Lake isn’t afraid of spices that aren’t pepper. She then picks up the tequila again.
Who Is Lisa Barlow?
Originally from New York, Lisa made a name for herself in the mountains as one of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Born to a Jewish family, Lisa converted to Mormonism at a young age and raised her two sons, Jack and Baby Gorgeous, as members of the Latter-day Saints. In 2007, she and her husband, John, launched Vida Tequila. I guess you can say they’re just your typical Mormon family.
The Marketing Maven
Her business presence extends beyond her and her husband’s tequila to the marketing space. Lisa is the founder of LUXE Marketing, with an expanding liquor portfolio that now includes Blue Jay Hard Seltzer. Her entrepreneurial genes were passed down to Jack and Baby Gorgeous (known as “Henry” to outsiders), who have their own brand of men’s grooming products, Fresh Wolf.
Lisa Barlow, Proud 'Worst Cook'?
"I love fine dining, I love eating out," she says, "but I don't cook … Cooking takes too much time. You have to go to the grocery store, look around, find everything. By the time I get home, I'm too tired to make anything."
Her highlights as a chef include one grilled cheese and a batch of hot dogs made in a microwave she didn’t know how to turn on. Despite her negative culinary skills, food is a huge part of her identity and brand. She has a well-documented affinity for junk food — specifically Wendy's (she has a very convenient, ongoing partnership with the brand), McDonald’s and Taco Bell, and has even shared her go-to orders.
Here’s a little breakdown of her orders and eating habits:
- Wendy's: obsessed with their lemonade, cookies and chicken nuggets
- McDonald’s: double cheeseburger and fries
- Taco Bell: Cheesy Gordita Crunch and Taco Supreme with a Mountain Dew Baja Blast
- Del Taco: shrimp tacos
- Breakfast: four Kit Kat bars
- Favorite Drink: 44-ounce Diet Coke with lemon (easy on the ice)

Lisa joined the Worst Cooks recruits because she's "sick of being the brunt of the joke in my house … I just want to be like, 'OK, I'm making dinner tonight.'"
We'll be following the Real Housewife's culinary journey on Worst Cooks in America: Reality Check, premiering Sunday, January 4 at 8|7c. If she improves her cooking game, she'll get permanent bragging rights and $25,000 for the charity of her choice.
