I scream, you scream — and those who avoid dairy scream for non-dairy ice cream.

While some ice cream shops don’t offer many choices when it comes to non-dairy alternatives — like, maybe one or two flavors, if you’re lucky — Carvel is collaborating with dairy-free brand Klimon (that’s “no milk” spelled backwards) to offer a full non-diary lineup at all of the soft-serve pioneer’s more than 300 locations.

Carvel says its new “permanent, multi-format non-dairy menu” constitutes an effort “to make the traditional ice cream shop experience more accessible” to more people, “without compromising the indulgence that defines the category.”

How did Carvel and Klimon partner on the new non-dairy lineup?

For more than a year, the 90-year-old ice cream brand and the plant-based dairy-free frozen dessert brand collaborated on product testing and development. That partnership has resulted in a new line of non-dairy indulgences that “deliver the rich taste and creamy texture guests expect from the inventors of the Original Soft Serve,” Carvel says.

What’s in Carvel’s new non-dairy lineup?

The non-dairy menu spans four “signature formats,” each in a variety of flavors, to offer breadth of choice:

Non-dairy soft serve:

  • Strawberry
  • Chocolate
  • Mint
  • Cold Brew
  • Peanut Butter
  • Pistachio

Non-dairy scooped desserts:

  • Strawberry
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter Ripple
  • Oreo Cookies & Cream
  • Mint Oreo
  • Cold Brew
  • Peanut Butter
  • Pistachio

Non-dairy shakes:

  • Strawberry
  • Chocolate
  • Chocolate Peanut Butter
  • Oreo Cookies & Cream
  • Mint
  • Cold Brew
  • Peanut Butter
  • Pistachio

Non-dairy flying saucers (ice cream sandwiches):

  • Strawberry
  • Chocolate
  • Mint
  • Cold Brew
  • Peanut Butter
  • Pistachio

Additionally, the line includes more than 25 non-dairy toppings to “create new possibilities for customization, from familiar favorites to inventive flavor combinations,” Carvel says.

Where can you order from Carvel’s new non-dairy menu?

The non-dairy lineup is now available at Carvel shops nationwide. Take note, however, that flavor availability may vary by location. And yes, these non-dairy options are permanent — not limited-time offerings.
