A few months ago, you couldn't scroll through Instagram or TikTok without seeing dot cakes. Until now, only those who were in New York City could get their hands on these viral confections — if they chose to wait in hour-long lines. Well, now more people across the country have the chance of getting their hands on these popular treats, as they've officially made their way to one major wholesale retailer.
What are dot cakes?
If you haven't heard about dot cakes yet, then you're in for a treat (pun intended). Dot cakes are cakes covered in buttercream and topped with rainbow nonpareils. They’re available in four flavors — classic vanilla, chocolate, vanilla chip (confetti) and red velvet, all with the signature rainbow nonpareil topping. They make a satisfying noise when you run a spoon across the top and have a pleasant crunch with every bite, as heard in thousands of ASMR videos posted to social media.

Are dot cakes at Costco?
As of this week, dot cakes can officially be found at Costco. The original bakery said in an Instagram post that its first-ever six-pack of 4.5-ounce Dotcups have rolled out nationwide to select Costco locations. They are available in chocolate and vanilla flavors and come in the branded cup you've seen online.
You'll want to check your local Costco to see if they're in stock. That means if you live somewhere outside of the New York City area, you might have a shot at finally trying these viral treats (yay!).
How much are dot cakes?
Some social media users have already posted videos spotting dot cakes at Costco, priced at $14.89 for the six-pack.
These are roughly half the size of the cups sold at Butterfield Market in New York, which are each eight ounces. However, the price is reflective of that. The standard eight-ounce cups cost $11 apiece (down from $13, as of this summer), whereas this six-pack of 4.5-ounce cups is only $15.
