That Shockingly Delicious Kraft Mac & Cheese Ice Cream Is Now Available at Walmarts Nationwide
After selling out in less than an hour last summer, Van Leeuwen’s ice cream is finally here for the masses. The shop is also set to release other head-turning flavors like Pizza.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Kraft Mac & Cheese ice cream — but for most of us, actually tasting the totally unexpected, wonderfully nostalgic-sounding ice cream flavor has proven elusive. Until now.
When Brooklyn-based cult brand Van Leeuwen Ice Cream introduced its Kraft Mac & Cheese ice cream last summer, it sold out online within one hour, crashing the website where it was available for purchase in mere minutes.
Its blink-and-you’ll-miss-it debut left scads of boxed macaroni-and-cheese fans and adventurous frozen dessert lovers disappointed, curious and hungry for another chance to try it.
That chance has arrived. Kraft and Van Leeuwen are finally making the surprisingly well-received comfort-food-meets-comfort-food flavor — apparently far tastier than it’s stunt appeal might have you expect — broadly available.
Starting today, you can buy Kraft Mac & Cheese x Van Leeuwen Ice Cream — which the brands describe as “deliciously creamy” and “cheesy” — in any of 3,500 (count ’em) Walmart locations across 50 states, where it will be sold for “a 10-week rotation period.”
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese ice cream is one of seven Van Leeuwen flavors — some new, some existing faves — beginning to rotate through Walmart stores nationwide. You’ll currently also find Planet Earth (“blue spirulina almond ice cream and pieces of matcha green tea cake”), Pizza (“cream cheese and mozzarella ice cream with a tomato jam swirl and basil crust cookies”), Hot Honey (“vanilla ice cream with honeycomb and swirls of hot honey”), Royal Wedding Cake (“floral, sweet cream cheese ice cream with chunks of lemon sponge cake with layers of elderflower frosting”), Bourbon Cherries Jubilee (“sweet cream ice cream … [with] swirls of bourbon cherry compote”) and Wild Blueberry Shortcake flavors (vanilla ice cream with wild blueberry swirl and “chunks of shortcake”).

A “refresh” featuring different flavors is planned for later this summer.
“We made these seven exclusive flavors using the same artisanal processes and ingredients that we have been using to make our ice cream for the past 15 years,” Ben Van Leeuwen, co-founder and CEO of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, said in a press release, celebrating the expanded reach of a company that started out as a single ice cream truck. “We have created a collection of classic flavors using thoughtfully sourced ingredients … [and] also unique and surprisingly delicious flavors that you would never expect to love as an ice cream (mac and cheese, and pizza!).”

But what does Kraft Mac & Cheese ice cream taste like?
Van Leeuwen describes it thus: “If this reminds you of the ice cream you grew up with, you might be out of your mind. If this reminds you of the comforting bowl of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese you grew up with, you’re getting warmer. Because did we make this ice cream with that buttery, sweet iconic cheese? You bet.”
