I Tried Kraft's Chili Crisp and Cinnamon Roll Mac & Cheese
The limited-time flavors offer something sweet and spicy.
If your boxed macaroni and cheese has felt a little blah lately, honestly … that’s on you. The people behind the classic Kraft Mac & Cheese have rolled out a slew of new flavors in recent years, including the more or less expected — i.e. cacio e pepe and pizza — and totally unexpected, like apple pie. According to Kraft’s own research, 60% of customers are looking for “new and unexpected flavors beyond the classics.” And while we’ve heard a lot about “swicy” flavors recently, the brand’s two newest limited-edition boxes each offer their own respective takes on sweet and spicy.
What does Kraft Mac & Cheese Chili Crisp taste like?
Chile crisp is on just about every menu these days, so it’s not surprising it would pop up in a box of Kraft — which the announcement states balances “the heat of chili crisp with the signature cheesy goodness of Kraft Mac & Cheese.”
There was a time when even packaged foods labeled “spicy” would barely register any heat. Luckily, that’s not the case anymore. Chili Crisp has a pleasant hit of pepper — not too eye-watering to eat a bowlful of it. Flecks of red chile flakes are present, as is that classic Kraft cheese flavor, which smooths out the chile crisp with some milkiness. If you’ve already been mac-maxxing by adding your own chile crisp, then this flavor may at least save you from cleaning an extra spoon. And because I couldn’t resist going for swicy, I also tried it drizzled with some honey and can report that was a great decision.
What does Kraft Mac & Cheese Cinnamon Roll taste like?
According to Kraft, cinnamon is actually the top fall flavor, ousting pumpkin spice (and yes, Kraft has made pumpkin spice mac, too). So for a sweet option this season, the brand looked to that classic swirled treat, the cinnamon roll. Don’t expect that electric orange cheese color, either. Cinnamon Roll is a more pale enriched dough color (OK, so, it’s pasta-colored) with a creamy sauce that’s reminiscent of icing with speckles of cinnamon present throughout.
To me, it was closer to mixing the icing and insides of the cinnamon roll rather than any of the yeasty, breadiness from the pastry. I tried last year’s adjacent (spice-wise) Apple Pie flavor and found myself missing something tart to cut through all the warm spices and richness. But if that fruit-forward mac and cheese was a bridge too far for you, Cinnamon Roll might be your preferred route into dessert-themed Kraft.
Where can you buy Kraft Mac & Cheese Chili Crisp and Cinnamon Roll flavors?
Kraft Mac & Cheese Chili Crisp is the easiest to find. It's being rolled out at multiple retailers nationwide including “Meijer, Walmart, Amazon and more.” Kraft Mac & Cheese Cinnamon Roll, however, is exclusive to Walmart stores.
Both flavors will be available now for a limited time, but Kraft teases there's more to come in 2027.
