Coca-Cola Launches New ‘Starlight’ Flavor, And It Tastes Like Space Candy

The new flavor is inspired by space. (Whatever that means.)

We like to reference space a lot. Perhaps an experience is “out of this world” or “from another galaxy.” We may joke sometimes we’d like to move to another planet – especially lately. But perhaps the greatest fascination we have with space is that we really know so little about it, and it’s a great unknown for us. So, when something is said to be space-inspired, that can mean a lot of things.

Coca-Cola’s new limited-edition Starlight flavor is said to be just that. It is a “space-inspired Coca-Cola product” that is supposed to recreate the taste and feel of space. However, it’s hard to say what space is supposed to taste like. But, if you go by this beverage, space tastes kind of like minty cotton candy sprinkled with vanilla, and has a sort of red tint. It’s pleasantly sweet and candy-like and just a bit fruity, which is excellent if that’s what you are going for. It might not be if you don’t really lean towards sweets, but in that case, you probably aren’t picking up a can of Coca-Cola anyway.

According to the official press release, Starlight Coca-Cola “includes additional notes reminiscent of stargazing around a campfire, as well as a cooling sensation that evokes the feeling of a cold journey to space.”

Starlight is the first limited-edition flavor in the newly launched Coca-Cola Creations, a platform that is supposed to have a series of new innovations and “expressions.” Will they all be space-inspired? Time will tell.

Starlight Coca-Cola is currently on shelves, and will be available for a limited time, in 20-ounce bottles and in a ten-pack of 7.5-ounce cans in both regular and zero sugar versions.
