Not all surprises are good. But for boozy-beverage-inclined Baja Blast fans, the day has brought a very good surprise indeed: Hard Mtn Dew Baja Blast is coming our way.
Last August, the Boston Beer Company and PepsiCo announced plans to launch a line of Hard Mtn Dew alcoholic beverages.
Set to hit retail shelves in early 2022, the canned, boozy Hard Mtn Dew flavored malt beverages would be 5 percent alcohol by volume and, as initial product imagery indicated, would come in three varieties: Original Mtn Dew, Black Cherry and Watermelon.

But on Friday, the Official Twitter of Hard Mountain Dew shared an image that touched off a flurry of excitement from fans of Baja Blast, the Mtn Dew flavor that originated as a Taco Bell fountain drink in 2004.
(Boston Beer CEO Dave Burwick was Pepsi's head marketer at the time and was “instrumental” in Baja Blast’s original debut, according to a spokesperson for the beer company.)
The Tweeted picture of a can of Hard Mtn Dew Baja Blast, which, like the rest of the line, boasts “Zero Sugar,” was captioned, “Don’t worry. We didn’t forget.”
Like the other flavors in the Hard Mtn Dew line, Hard Mtn Dew Baja Blast (will come in 24-ounce cans and contain no caffeine, the brand noted.
The launch, with initial availability in only a limited number of states, is targeted for late February or early March — and some commenters on Twitter already seem to be checking their calendars.
“Umm where do I get this?” one wondered.
“Give it to me!” demanded another.
“this weekend?” asked a third.
Soon, Baja Blast fans, very soon.
