Is It Too Good to Be True? Tropicana Creates Toothpaste That Won’t Ruin Orange Juice
We’ve all had a morning glass ruined by some minty freshness.

We’ve seen toothpastes over the years that offer all sorts of wild flavor combinations, from mojito to chocolate, but a new toothpaste isn’t really about the flavor of the paste. Instead, it’s about maintaining the flavor of what you are enjoying after brushing your teeth.
It may sound like an April Fool’s Day joke, but it’s very real. On November 1 (which just so happens to be National Brush Day), Tropicana is introducing a limited-edition Tropicana Toothpaste.
We’ve all had that situation where we brush our teeth first thing in the morning and then go to the fridge to take a bit of orange juice. We very often discover that the minty fresh taste of the toothpaste does not go well at all with the taste of the juice. We’re not alone. In fact, a recent Tropicana survey found that nearly 80% of people agree brushing your teeth with toothpaste right before drinking orange juice can ruin its taste.
So, while it may be kind of complicated to alter our orange juice to taste better with our toothpaste, we can have toothpaste that will not impact our juice in the first place. A brand representative shared with Food Network, "Tropicana Toothpaste is different from other toothpaste because it was specifically designed to protect the delicious taste of orange juice. It does not include sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) as an ingredient, a cleaning agent prevalent in toothpaste that contributes to the bitter aftertaste from brushing your teeth with toothpaste and then drinking OJ.”
While not for sale in stores, on November 1, fans can visit Tropicana’s Instagram page and comment may just receive a “fresh” surprise.
To create the toothpaste, Tropicana partnered with Dynamic Blending Specialists, since clearly making orange juice and toothpaste are pretty unique skill sets – even if they are apparently quite the frenemy combo of our morning routine.
What’s next? Coffee-compatible mouthwash? We’re here for it.
