This Wine Made Me Fall in Love with Moscato
Yes, it's possible!

These days, when most of us millennials walk through a wine store, we usually don't have a super specific bottle in mind. Most of us will go for the cheapest – OK, or second-cheapest – bottle we can find of whatever type we’re looking for. Heck, we’re lucky if we even know what kind we want beyond the basics of red, white, rosé or sparkling. We hate to admit it, but sometimes a trip to the wine store is just a hunt for the cutest label.
But from one undiscerning millennial to another, I have something to tell you. You need to find this specific bottle of wine. And, when you do, you need to buy lots of it. It’s one of the best wines, let alone Moscatos, I’ve ever tasted. Let me introduce you to the 2016 ViNO Moscato.
I know what you're thinking, this slightly sparkling white wine is typically so sugar-filled that it might as well be juice. And for the most part, I would agree with you. Most Moscatos I’ve tried have been so overwhelmingly sweet (it’s a dessert wine, after all) that I figured that this is just how they all are. I would go so far as to say that some were even sweeter than Capri Sun.
Yes, I just compared wine to Capri Sun. Sue me.
But on a trip to Seattle, I came across this simple, yet playfully packaged Moscato from winemaker Charles Smith.
The first thing I love about this wine is that it’s unpretentious. It’s got this funky font with a modern logo and a twist top so even the wine-opener-less can enjoy. But the best part? It only retails for around $14.
Despite its modest presentation, the 2016 ViNO Moscato is a top-notch wine. It’s bright and tart flavor with notes of orange blossom, lychee and lime.
I could try to explain to you every nuance of this drink, but really, all you need to know is: It’s. So. Much. Better. Than. All. The Other. Moscatos.
It made me like Moscato again!
