Maintaining a clean cooking space is essential. But, if you have little kids, furry pets or avid cooks in your home, that can sometimes feel impossible. Don’t fret, though — no matter the cleaning hurdle you’re tasked with, it all comes down to having the right equipment. In order to keep your floors clean, you need something that can effortlessly navigate kitchen islands, nooks and crannies, and is versatile enough to tackle all kinds of messes from a few crumbs to loads of flour on the floor. After using this light-weight, cordless vacuum from Dyson, I’m convinced it’s all you need to get the job done right.
Securing her stance as a full-fledged adult, my sister bought the Dyson V6 Motorhead vacuum during a Black Friday sale about three and a half years ago. But it wasn’t until a recent stay with her that I realized how badly I needed one, too. Its powerful suction was strong enough to clear away dog hair on all surfaces, and my sister loves how inconspicuously the vacuum can be stored on a compact charging dock. Weighing only 4.5 pounds, it feels no more bulky than a standard broom but is far more efficient.
I immediately was intrigued by the versatility. The wand detaches to create a hand-held vacuum (great for cleaning crumbs or spills on chairs or countertops!), and the brush attachment makes it perfect for cleaning small, delicate spaces. (All attributes that made it seem perfect for my small New York apartment kitchen!) No matter what, we also recommend disinfecting your surfaces after removing grime, so you know you're cooking on as clean a countertop as possible.
The only caveat is that the cordless vacuum only holds a charge for about 20 minutes and any replacement pieces you’ll need throughout the years can be a little pricey (a replacement battery costs around $100). But, for someone looking to efficiently clean a small space, this Dyson vacuum will get the job done.
