Making air fryer hard-boiled eggs is simple and convenient: you don’t need to wait for water to boil, it’s completely hands-off and you can cook up to six eggs without worrying about their shells jostling together and cracking in simmering water. Customize the process to make soft-, medium- or hard-cooked eggs. Read on to learn more.
Step one: Preheat the air fryer. You want it at 270 degrees F.
Step two: Cook the eggs to your desired firmness. Once the air fryer comes to temperature, add the eggs to the basket. Cook 15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs, 12 minutes for medium-boiled eggs, and 10 minutes for air fryer soft-boiled eggs.
While many of us struggle to make perfect hard-boiled eggs that peel easily, our recipe developers swear by these four steps:
Step one: Prepare an ice bath. While your eggs cook, fill a bowl with ice water. Put the boiled eggs in the ice water for 2 to 3 minutes, then remove with your fingers or a slotted spoon.
Step two: Lightly crack the eggshell. Gently crack the boiled egg on the counter, then roll to create a mosaic-like pattern on its exterior. Note that soft-boiled eggs are too delicate to be rolled.
Step three: Start peeling from the larger end. There’s a small air pocket on the larger end of an egg that can make it easier to separate the membrane and egg white.
Step four: Run beneath cold water. If there are stubborn swatches of eggshell clinging to your hard-boiled egg, put the egg beneath cold running water and peel.
Stored in their shells in the refrigerator, air fryer hard-boiled eggs last up to 7 days. If you want to reheat them, put the eggs in a large bowl and cover with very hot water. Let sit for 10 minutes, then remove, peel the eggs and serve.
Put your air fryer hard-boiled eggs to use in egg salad, make tea eggs, fold them into sabich sandwiches or try one of our other favorite hard-boiled egg recipes. You can also snack on hard-boiled eggs straight. We like to sprinkle them with salt and pepper, smoked paprika, furikake or everything bagel seasoning.
