This refreshingly delicious fruit salad uses a minimum of ingredients to maximum effect. Sliced oranges and apples get tossed with a flavorful syrup made simply by simmering orange juice, honey and fresh ginger together.

Directions
Bring 1 cup orange juice, 3 tablespoons honey and 1 inch sliced fresh ginger to a simmer in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook until syrupy, 8 to 10 minutes. Let cool completely; discard the ginger. Slice the peel off 8 assorted oranges and cut into rounds or supremes (see right). Toss the oranges with the orange-honey syrup and 1 each thinly sliced green and red apple.
Cook’s Note
To cut an orange into supremes, cut off the ends, then slice off the peel and pith. Cut along the sides of each membrane with a paring knife to remove the segments; discard any seeds.
